In this blog, we are going dispel the myth that ladies with bigger boobs can't still wear pretty bras. Also, provide some great tips to make sure you get the right Bra for you. A Bra that is comfortable, supportive and stylish.
However, as I am sure you know, not all Lingerie outlets cater for G+ cup sizes. Either they don’t stock Bras in those sizes or they are unable to offer a fitting service. Even some well known national retailers I should add!
Fear not, the Bra Shop is here! We are fitting Bras week in week out all the way to K cup and our expert team are more than happy to help. We also have a fantastic selection of Bras in larger cup sizes from our leading brands including Elomi, Fantasie and Freya.
So what are our top tips for getting the right Bra for ladies needing larger cup sizes?
1. Get a feel for what a properly supportive well fitting Bra feels like.
Come along to see us at the Bra Shop and have a free fitting. You can then try on lots of different brands and styles and find the one that suits you best. Remember, each Bra fits slightly different. One size does not fit all! A 38H from different brands will fit completely different. Not all ladies have the same shape bust or body. We know, therefore, from experience that some styles are going to be more appropriate for your shape than others.
Many ladies visit us for the first time and come away feeling transformed. Getting the right style of bra is not only a revelation it is truly empowering. You will wonder why you have waited so long to get expertly fit.
2. Ensure your band fits correctly
If you can’t fit two fingers under your band at the back or you can fit more than two fingers, then you are wearing the wrong size. The band is very important as it provides the majority of support for your breasts. If the band slides about or rises up when you raise your arms then you are not getting the right support. Without proper support, you risk hurting your back or saggy boobs!
3. They don’t make lovely Bras in large cup sizes, do they?
They certainly do if you shop at the Bra Shop! Gone are the days when you couldn’t get a pretty Bra with a large cup. Thank heavens! For example, Morgan from Elomi. What could be prettier or more feminine? Glamour, comfort and support all rolled into one. Perfect.
4. Get the right cup size
A properly fitting cup ensures that all of the breast tissue is inside the cup. If there is breast tissue outside the cup then you need to try a bigger cup size (there is nothing worse than four boobs!). If there is room inside the cup then you need to go down a cup size. You don’t want them making a bid for freedom all on their own!
5. Your Bra won’t last forever
I know you are thinking “they are bound to say that”. But honestly, they don’t. Both the fabric and the elastic lose their elasticity over time. Whether from normal wear, over wear (ideally you shouldn’t wear the same bra more than every other day to allow the fabric time to rest and regain its shape and support) or washing. UV doesn’t do it much good either if you hang it on the washing line (which we don’t recommend I should add)!
Also, your body shape changes over time naturally and although you can make small adjustments to the straps there is a limit to the amount of adjustment possible.
How can I tell if it is time for a change? The usual giveaways include discomfort from rubbing or the loss of support, the straps and band are slipping, frayed edges and when you can stick your finger through the fabric in the cup. Oh, you would be surprised!
